Santa Rosa 1900 is the name of the micro mill founded by Efraín Naranjo and his family.
It owes its name to their hometown, where it is located, in Santa Rosa, Costa Rica.
‘1900’ refers to the altitude of the micro mill.
Efraín comes from a family of coffee growers, but he had to sell his land and emigrate to the United States due to poor economic conditions.
Upon his return from the State Efraín bought his farm “El Macho” and founded de micro mill “Santa Rosa 1900” where he and his family process their coffee and that of neighbouring farms.
They use a double wash process with their coffee which means that the cherries are first left for 24 hours in a tank, then washed and depulped and washed again before leaving them to dry in a raised bed for 12 days.
